the rumored "iSlate"
On a report from Reuters there are rumors that Apple's highly anticipated tablet computer is already in the manufacturing stage and the production of the touchscreen device's casing will be in aluminum.
With the upcoming Apple event scheduled for January 27, 2010 the Apple Tablet rumor mill is in high gear. Many think the device will be named the "iSlate" but with the announcement of the hp Slate recently it is hard to tell if Apple would still use any name that involved "slate" in the title. Other rumored names are the iTablet, iPad, and macbook touch.
Appleinsider had an interesting picture of some price points that may be available from Apple by the 1st quarter of 2010. Of interest is the rumored Apple tablet that has been raging around the net like wildfire. Apple still denies that they are developing said itablet but they are also notorious about secrecy and it would be no surprise if an announcement would come soon.
Also it has been rumored that Apple will finally release a cheap macbook under $1000. Sure the white Macbook sells for a dollar under but it is most likely that Apple will release at least a couple of options for the sub $1000 macbook line up. This was evident with the 13" aluminum macbook being bumped up to the prestigious title of Macbook Pro.

Steve Jobs returned to the stage at Apple's It's only Rock'n'Roll event on Wednesday receiving a standing ovation by those in the audience. The event may not have brought the Apple Tablet, iTablet or whatever name that Apple puts on it's rumored touch device. We didn't get the camera in the iPod Touch but surprisingly they added a video camera to the iPod nano.
What we did get was the return of Steve Jobs and to me that was satisfying enough.
Here is a clip of his return to the spotlight.
The World Wide Developers Conference is fast approaching and anyone who is a fan of the Apple product line is waiting in eager anticipation of the announcements that will be made.
- Will the new operating system Snow Leopard be released
- New iPhones
- The release of the new iPhone OS 3.0
- Cheap Macbooks otherwise known as a netbooks
- A Mac Tablet or should we say "iTablet"
- updates to the Apple TV
- The biggest question though is the return of Steve Jobs
Snow Leopard should be announced for a release date but hopefully not rushed as the debacle called Vista was.
New iPhones are traditionally announced at the WWDC and Macbook Watch is expecting the same this year. What will this year's model have that will make current iPhone owners envious is yet to be seen?
Come this week we will find out if there is any truth to the rumors that have been circulating through the Mac community. Macbook Watch will have complete coverage so be sure to return for some exciting news.

There is a lot of buzz in the industry about Apple releasing a netbook in the near future but it is quite possible that a Mac tablet is in the works. Houston Neal has written a great article at Softwareadvice about the medical applications that could be developed for said "iTablet".
"The Ultimate EMR User Interface
An Apple tablet would be the ultimate UI for electronic medical records. With a touch-screen display like the iPhone, using the EMR during an encounter would be simplified. For example, selecting an evaluation and management (E&M) code could be as easy as “dialing in” the code with a swipe of a finger..."
