The moment has arrived: your old computer has passed its prime. What was once an exquisite machine, blazing through files and loading applications in record time, is now a shell of what it once was, freezing at every moment and running on outdated hardware.

You decide it is time for a new computer. While there are many options available, from Dell, Samsung, Lenovo, to HP and Sony, one’s best bet is to rely on the efficiency and effectiveness of Apple’s products and find a MacBook for sale.

Shop for a Cheap Macbook Today

Unlike the many PC makers out there, Apple has built a product that is uniquely theirs: a laptop fully designed to complement the needs of the average consumer and the advanced enthusiast. There are many reasons that a refurbished MacBook is the correct choice for replacing your recently retired computer.

To start, Apple’s MacBook has some of the best computer hardware on the planet as well as the best laptop design on the market. All MacBooks are made from one block of aluminum, which they call the ‘unibody’. The unibody design allows for a higher quality production that adds to the durability and overall beauty of the device. By making it out of one block of aluminum, the average user doesn’t have to worry about random parts chipping off of their computer or having it crushed inside of their backpack or briefcase. Aesthetically, the MacBook is one of the best looking devices on the market, with a design that is minimal and timeless.

The Unibody Frame

In addition to it being beautiful to look at, the MacBook also possesses:

A vivid LED screen that displays everything in superb quality.

A Retina Display option to choose from if you decide you need even more visual clarity.

One of the best built-in webcams on the market. At 720p, it provides a crystal clear image when you’re video chatting.

The LED backlight keyboard is one of the best around. The perfect feature for any productive consumer that stays up late at night finishing a project, novel, or letter.

The multi-touch track pad is extremely simple to navigate and makes any computer task that much easier to do.

Overall, the MacBook has some of the best hardware money can buy.

The MacBook also has some fantastic software packed inside of the machine. OSX, Apple’s operating system, is seamlessly integrated with the computer and grants the machine immense usability. This is because the MacBook and OSX are both built by Apple. Rather than having the cookie cutter, PC Windows’s operating system, Apple created their own exclusive operating system that is in touch with the computer from conception to the final product.

Inside OSX, we find a system that prides itself on its simplicity and ease of use. Once you take a couple of minutes to get used to the new operating system, you’ll find yourself zooming through the computer in no time. The multi-touch trackpad works flawlessly with the system when flipping through programs, documents, music, and video. It also has the added convenience of putting all the downloadable programs in one place with the Mac app store. With the MacBook, there should be no need to search through dozens of websites in an attempt to find the program you have been looking for; it is likely already available in the app store.

OSX also works as a great safety shield from viruses, with a number of security measures to protect you and your computer from any type of attacks. Programs such as Gatekeeper and FileVault help protect your computer from anything harmful coming into your system.

Because Apple also makes other popular products like the iPad, iPhone, and iPod, these products also sync effortlessly with the MacBook. With iCloud, all of your files, music, photos, videos, and apps are available instantly on any of your other Apple products. With the MacBook, you are not only getting an awesome computer, but a digital hub for all of your electronics.

One of the best parts about getting a MacBook is that even if you are not satisfied with OSX or just want to stick with what you know best, a MacBook can run the latest version of Windows while still having a copy of OSX installed. This means that not only do you have the usability, simplicity, and elegance of a MacBook and OSX, but you can also run a Windows on a Mac if needed.

As Apple computers grow in popularity, many industries have widely accepted MacBooks and OSX into the workplace. What was once a major liability to Mac users is now a thing of the past. A number of industries use MacBooks now more than ever. In certain fields, such as in Design and Multimedia jobs, a Mac is actually the preferred choice among industry leaders. MacBooks are easy to adopt into any workplace without disruption, as it is compatible with all of the essential software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and the majority of preferred Internet browsers.

No matter how you look at it, purchasing a cheap MacBook is a spot-on decision. From its aluminum unibody design, vivid display, state of the art webcam, to its OSX operating system, sync capabilities with the iPhone and iPad, and its dual-boot potential with the Windows operating system, switching to Mac is the smart choice for any consumer.

While you spend your final days with your old, boring, and outdated computer, trying to clean up its random viruses, waiting for it to load, or hoping that its latest crash did not accidentally delete your document, think about the MacBook and how life would be so much easier with it.

I am traveling out of state to visit family on the other side of the country. It's a relaxing trip, but I also needed to do some work. I contemplated on bringing my MacBook Pro with me, but ultimately decided on bringing my iPad.

iPad vs Macbook

The main reason I decided to leave my MacBook at home was because I had read about how other people were enjoying using their iPad as a lightweight, portable work device. Here are some pros and cons of using my iPad instead of my Macbook Pro.

Pros

Lightweight

Ultra-Portable

Awesome battery life

Cons

limitations on file structure

Virtual Keyboard is often hard to use

Offsite storage (flash drives, external hard drives, etc)

Saving Files

Saving files on the iPad is limited, but fortunately most of my work consists of word documents. Using the "Pages" app on the iPad solves this problem, and it automatically syncs to my other devices.

Virtual Keyboard

The main problem I'm having is typing on the virtual keyboard. While the keyboard is ok for brief notes and email, it begins to get tiresome when writing anything longer than a few paragraphs. I think this problem could be solved by purchasing a keyboard case like the Kensington Keyfolio Pro. This is one area where I would not want to go cheap on. There are several I am interested in and will write a review on the one a choose in a future post.

Until then my hands are getting tired typing...

I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the optical drive on my machine in the past couple years.By removing the drive, Apple will be able to reduce the size of the MacBook Pro. This will create a thinner and lighter laptop. Think of it as a MacBook Air Pro.

What are your thoughts? Should Apple remove the SuperDrive from upcoming MacBooks? Take our quick survey and let us know.

When I switched to Mac, I had just turned 40. I was intrigued by the “I’m a Mac” campaigns and to be truthful I was curious about OSX. After reviewing the beauty of the new aluminum uni-body macs I told my wife that is what I wanted for my 40th birthday present.

MacBook unboxing

Birthday morning I felt like a little kid running to my presents. I knew the MacBook was there and ripped the wrapping paper off the box. Apple is known for their precision to detail, and the packaging of Apple products is no exception. I knew from the moment I did my Macbook unboxing I was going to love this machine.

Starting the MacBook up I was treated to this beautiful introduction that just floored me.

Set up was a breeze, and the line “It just works” is absolutely true. With no hassle at all my MacBook was up and running and connected to my wireless router. At first it was a little daunting because I wasn’t sure where to go and how to do certain things, but I believe that was part of the fun. Till this day I am still finding out new things about my Mac that make me say “this is so obvious. Why doesn’t Windows have this feature?”

After working on this wonderful computing device it is frustrating to use a Windows machine. My workflow has greatly improved, and the user experience on OSX is second to none.

Do you remember the first time you used a Mac? If you are a life long Mac user be thankful that you have not been subjected to using a Windows based PC. If you have never used a Mac then you truly do not know what you are missing. If your interested in getting a Macbook deal online then be sure to browse our online store.

OSX Lion is the first operating system to be offered as a full digital download. Initially Apple stated that the only way to get Lion was to download it from the Mac App store, but later decided to offer it on a bootable USB stick that you could purchase.

Although the digital download is a major step forward on how we will be getting our OSs in the future, most people (including myself) wanted an actual physical copy. Lion does create a bootable repair partition in case you need to do a re-install, but this does not solve the problem of a complete hard drive failure. Creating a bootable OSX Lion install disk also will allow you to perform a clean install in case you just want to clean out the cobwebs that may be lurking in the far reaches of your Mac. Just an important reminder that the Lion installer is tied to your Apple ID so you may want to think twice if you plan on sharing your disk with others via torrents, file sharing services, or simply friends.

Re-Downloading OSX Lion

If your like me you couldn't wait to instal Lion. After the download was complete most of us quickly clicked on the app to perform the install. Unfortunately after the OS is upgraded Lion deletes the original install app. Now when you try to re-download it from the Mac App store it is greyed out and it would seem you are not allowed to have access to it again. Fear not, because there is a way. Simply open the Mac App store, and while holding down the "option" key on your keyboard click on the purchases tab on the upper part of the screen. Now when you click on the OSX Lion app you will be able to re-download it with no problems (Don't worry you will not be charged for it again.)

Create the Bootable OSX Lion Disk

I have included some easy to follow instructions with pictures for creating your bootable Lion installer disk:

1. The first thing that you want to do is to copy the "Install Mac OSX Lion" app from your application folder to your desktop.

2. Next you want to command click or right click the "Install Mac OSX Lion" app and choose "show Contents".

3. Inside this package you want to locate the "Shared Support" folder.

4. Copy the “InstallESD.dmg” file to your Desktop.

5. Next open Disk Utility.

6. Click on the Burn Tap in the upper part of Disk Utility and select the “InstallESD.dmg” file that you previously copied to your desktop.

7. Insert a blank DVD and Disk Utility will burn Lion to a bootable DVD.

8. When Disk Utility is done you should have a bootable OSX Lion DVD ready to go. This is what the contents of your DVD should look like.

So there is! See, there is not much to it when it comes to creating a bootable OSX Lion disk. Hopefully these easy to follow steps will help you save a few dollars.

You have finally decided to get that shiny new Mac. Everything is so pristine, polished, and shiny. At first you are ever so gentle with your new mac relationship. As time goes by though that extra attention you gave starts to dwindle. No longer do you wipe every little smudge that appears on the screen the instant it appears. Before you know it your MacBook (that hopefully you where able to save some money on) starts to look a little dingy.

Thankfully we here at MacBookWatch can offer up some simple to follow ways to keep that MacBook looking fantastic.

When cleaning the outside of your Macbook, be sure to power off the computer, and unplug the mag-safe power adapter. If you own a MacBook or MacBook Pro with removable battery then be sure to remove the battery. You should use a soft, lint-free cloth that is slightly dampened to polish the outside of your MacBook, making sure to be careful that no moisture gets into any of the openings. Never use any type of aerosol or spray type of cleaner. This same technique can also be used to clean the Macbook display.

If your looking for a great cleaning kit be sure to check out the Klear Screen iKlear Complete Cleaning Kit to keep that MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air looking as great as the day you first met.

Steve Jobs lost his 7 year battle with health problems this week. A statement from Apple reads ""Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple,"
