Apple Back to School Promotion

Every year college students interested in getting a cheap Macbook wait in anticipation for the back to school promotion. Besides the college education discount that can be used all year long they can also expect some sort of gift from Apple. Typically this has been an iPod but some rumor sites where predicting a free iPhone. The latter was highly unlikely seeing how the iPhone would require a commitment from the student to have that monthly bill. The iPod touch really does make more sense.

Apple does have some great back to school promotions and the free ipod is enticing. I could probably get a better deal and get a cheap macbook through your site though.

I already have an iPod touch. If I decide to take advantage of this back to school program at Apple, do I have to accept the iPod touch as a free gift? (Though now that I think about it, I could use a new one).

You would have to purchase it at the same time as you purchase your mac and Apple would send you a rebate for the price of the iPod Touch. The only drawback to this is that you have to front the money for the gift and wait to receive it back in the form of a rebate. Those who aren’t interested in the iPod Touch usually sell them on eBay or Craigslist and just keep the money. Of course you could always send it my way if you don’t want it. :)
